I purchased the phone used. Was not difficult getting it reset and switched over (though it can be if the previous owner does not release their apple ID from the phone). The phone works very well, and is very easy to use - intuitive. Apps work fast. The camera on the phone, while only 8 mega pixels, takes great quality photos and can take them as fast as you can push the button without glitching or freezing. A couple drawbacks that you should consider. You cannot remove the battery. Also, the phone does not come with the ability to use it as usb/flash drive. You can however download an app that will allow that.
Many people regard the iPhone 4s as ancient technology, long since blown away by later iterations. I like to hear this, because it means I can buy a pristine used iPhone 4s for a bargain price, somewhere around $75. To my way of thinking these 'old' phones look great and are amazingly reliable and well-made. They run the latest Apple OS, parts are cheap and they are easy to fix. There is nothing not to like. If you are a phone snob, look elsewhere. Otherwise save your dollars and buy a classic.

I have used our 4S phones for two years and got them unlocked by AT&T, then moved my phones to T-Mobile and they worked great, once the towers were refarmed to the 1900 band- faster than AT&T. I jumped at the chance to buy brand new Sprint iphones for $99 (2015) from Best Buy on ebay, but Sprint refuses to unlock them, for GSM carriers. They continue to lie- "it's not technically possible"- one time the Sprint rep transferred me to Apple and she told me they would gladly unlock the phone for GSM- all they needed was for Sprint to submit the request, so she transferred me back to Sprint and the reps again claimed it's not technically possible to unlock their phones. I think the only part that isn't possible, is Sprint has refused program the computer code for the software button on their service reps compter screen that would automatically submit the unlock request to Apple's unlock server. Oh well, lying to the public is accepted govt and corp practice now- starting with a forged birth certificate and a Potus who can't pass E-verify.-look it up. I have 2 new phones on ringplus service and someday on T-mobile, as I believe Sprint will unlock them for GSM usage as soon as they get tired of lying. The smaller phone can be safely carried in your pocket, unlike the bigger ones- they are just a handier form factor.Read full review
