This movie is a great mixture of fantasy, comedy, slapstick and farce, handled in a very intelligent manner by all involved. The children are treated with respect by the adults as are the adults by the youngsters. The angels are never seen by the movie viewer, but rather only heard occasionally and their actions observed, so the whole God/man aspect of the film is treated very reverently, albeit in a lighthearted manner. And the youngster who prayed all this into place had no inner demons she was trying to work out but was simply praying for someone to please help the losing Baseball team, The Angels, and the manager of the team, Mcgufee. That's all, a sincere wish to help some people in their time of greatest need. Truly a touching film.
The movie is great but the dvd has been used so much that in the middle it kept skipping and sticking.

Overlooked classic from the waning years of Hollywood's golden age. Given the Disney treatment in 1994 in a completely forgettable remake... stick with the vastly superior 1951 original, starring Paul Douglas, Janet Leigh, and Keenan Wynn.

The original film, much better than the remake in the 90's. This version is a beautiful and heart warming story reflecting life in the early 1950's. The entire story is filmed in Pittsburgh, with the best scenes ever captured of Forbes Field. High recommended for the history buff and classic film fans.
Great heartwarming story.
