I was home with a cold and needed some light entertainment to go along with chicken soup. American Dreamz went down smoothly as a mild remedy for something to cheer up my day on the couch. It's a parody mixture of one part American Idol formula, one part W's White House and a dash of terrorists. I enjoyed the behind-the-scenes glimpses of reality show and White House strategy that, unfortunately, might have hit a bit close to the truth at times. I thought the casting of Hugh Grant as the Dreamz mastermind, Dennis Quaid as the Prez and Mandy Moore as the "white trash with a story" contestant were right on target. The explosive ending when the talented and the betrayed collide offers everyone something unexpected. Like most dreams, it was entertaining while it lasted.
As a comedy this movie is not slapstick funny. There are several stories playing in this movie all come together on a show called American Dreamz. This movie has the likeness of President Bush,Simon, and the show American Idol. The movie is well written and well acted. It starts out a little slow but picks up quickly. This movie is deflitly worth watching.
This is a wonderful family comedy that every age can watch. I saw it on HBO and knew I had to buy it. I also purchased more copies for christmas gifts . I think we can all identify with the characters.
I really like this movie. It is one of my favorites. Can't wait to get it in the mail to watch that day!!!!!!! I love Mandy Moore in this movie. She is a great actress.
This is just a funny parody of American Idol, right down to the try out contestants! The movie starts a bit slow but then dives right in to the funny!
