I bought this book for one of my students who was moving and quite sad. She liked the other "Alexander" books particularly "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Really Bad Day" so I decided to check out this one. It was quite good. It addressed all of the feelings of not wanting to movie but in a humorous way. Her books, although written in the 70's, are still very good today. I like Judith Viorst and would recommend her books to children (and adults) of many ages.
I had never read this as a child, but I had read the other Alexander book. This was very enjoyable and the 6 year old liked this one as well. Alexander seems to be a character boys can relate to. A good book to read at home.
