I bought these to use as mini studio monitors and they have worked well. It may be worth noting I wanted accurate sound which may be different than great sound quality. For my intended use they get five stars.

These speakers are great for what they are, especially for the price. But if you're looking for high quality studio monitors, you're going to be spending more than $100.00. I bought these for portability purposes. If you're shopping around for a set of monitors for your home studio, I would recommend spending a little more and getting something a little more substantial. None the less if your still undecided or you think these could work for you, you should consider the following pro's and con's list. Pro's - (1) Price - (2) Comes with features other speakers at this price don't come with (mainly because you won't find many studio monitors for $100. check the specs for more info) - (3) Magnetic Shielding (if you're like me and you have a lot of electronics around, you may hear feedback when you turn your speakers on. these are magnetically shielded and wont produce any of that noise. another feature a lot speakers at this price don't come with) - (4) Portable, light-weight - (5) Switchable power supply - (6) USB Port, 1/8 trs mini-jack input, 1/8 trs headphone output, 2-1/4 (L,R), 2-RCA (L,R) Con's - (1) These speaker's aren't balanced. - (2) The overall sound quality is average. (3/5) - (3) Heavy Bass (a little overpowering, even with bass boost off) - (4) These probably wont last for more than a year if you plan on bumpin' your music loud consistently on a day to day basis In conclusion, I would recommend these to anybody looking for small portable studio monitors or anybody looking for speakers that have the functionality of studio monitors but not the price tag.Read full review
My original intention was to purchase a mid-range monitor pair of speakers for PC/Mac/Laptop work in recording MIDI/Guitar/Bass etc... This little pair do deliver a punch and for those string players out there you will need to understand that feedback will be an issue(particularly acoustic amplified instruments). There are some distortion issues as you may have read in previous reviews, however, given the price range and the solid construction this is a very good choice for those musicians on a budget that need solid sounds. In terms of MIDI/Soft Synth recording through any DAW they work great. The issue is when you are working with Microphones and string instruments, for that you will need a pre-amp such as the Line 6 Pod as direct recording and monitoring through these may cause feedback and distortion. Overall, this pair do provide well rounded sound when working through a PC studio environment. For those who rather purchase this as an alternative to your normal cheap PC speakers you will be in for a treat.Read full review
