A little misleading. You can only use 2 channels when in 24-bit mode. If you want 4 channels, you have to switch the device to 16-bit mode. I was able to get this to record simultaneously a guitar, bass, and electronic drum set as individual tracks in Adobe Audition after installing the ASIOv4 driver from the Alesis website. So, it works, and sounds great. I don't particularly mind the 16-bit, it isn't really bad quality for an amateur anyway.
I bought this product on the strength of the Alesis brand, its versatility, and its compliance with the USB class, which means it needs no drivers. Indeed it works perfectly, and even works in my iPad4 with the special female-USB to Lightning connect. Although I'll be using Firewire devices such a M-Audio's FW 1814 and Tascam's FireOne for higher quality recordings, the Alesis unit's USB is a more widely compatible unit. Their AD converters are pretty good but not quite as good as the 1814's. For the $50, a steal!
I use this amazing device to record my bands at every performance. Who could have thought that something priced so low could outperform IO devices costing 10 times as much? When used with my MacBook Plus and Audacity it delivers cleanly separated tracks of instruments and vocals that can be edited on Audacity or sent to GarageBand to be enhanced, edited, and mixed down to stereo for burning CD's. TIP: I put the mixed file back in Audacity to normalize, then chop it up into individual songs for transfer into an iTunes playlist to make CD's.
Alesis has done it again this is an excellent product at a very reasonable price.4 mic preamps of a very good quality this little interface can handle all sotrs of tasks in a home or profesional studio.Easy to use just out of the box and for this ridiculous price they also include steinberg software.one mic and youre ready to record right out of the box. What else can you ask for 60 bucks?only on EBAY
