This band is difficult to categorize and even more difficult to figure out. If you like hardcore that is weird, you'll probably like this cd. It might not be quite as heavy as their first and with a lot less screaming, but it still measures up. It is basically hardcore with synth effects. While spiritual themes abound, they do have an obsession with both throwing up and reptiles. This is a curious thing indeed. The ballad here even moreso. Basically, I like every second song on the cd. The opener is almost radio accessible. The ode to The Doors, Jim's 'Lizard King', is bizarre. While they are obviously a Christian band, their lyrics can be both obscure and preachy at the same time. While they obviously consider their efforts art, that observation can be debateable at times. And they wear too much make-up, even if they do rock.Read full review
Showbread's second Tooth and Nail album, although different from their first, still contains a very in-your-face, powerful message with the most creative and meaningful lyrics. Less screaming in this one than in their last has deterred many fans, but it is still very energetic and is still in Showbread's unique yet wonderful style. I would recommend this CD to any screamo, metal, or rock fan of any age.
Artwork: 5 Stars. Music: 3 Stars. Lyrics: 2 Stars. Vocals: 3 Stars. This is a fairly good album for the style of music that it is. Modern hard rock whatever. It's as good as any of the stuff on MTV but it's too MTV sounding to be good. Overall 2 1/2 Stars.
