I've been a fan of Starcraft and Warcraft for some time now. Through a friend, I just discovered Age of Empires II: Godl Edition (for Macintosh). This was originally purchased as a Christmas gift for my 13-year-old son, but after seeing him play it a few times, I knew I had to have one for myself. Age of Empires appears to be similar to Starcraft/Warcraft in the way you build buildings, gather resources, create more units/people. However, the game breaks away from that mold into new territory with the various historical ages you go through. With this dimension and the historical notes, I found it intellectually stimulating as well as challenging as a game. My 13-year-old also enjoys developing his own maps, letting creativity have a day all to its own. I'd highly recommend this game to just about anyone. And if you're wanting a break from Starcraft/Warcraft but want to stay within familiar territory, then get a hold of Age of Empires II: Gold Edition.Read full review
REALLY FUN GAME!! Multiplayer is excellent on this game, hours and hours of fun can be had. Still a fun game even though it was made a little time ago. Really fun developing your civilization and advancing through the ages as well as battling other civilizations. Can be played over local area network or online using gameranger. You can team up or against other players and substitute people with computer operated enemies or teams.
For those of you that have access to a Mac that has OS 9 or below, this is the game to have in your game library. No two games are the same, and even though the AI is predictable, the gameplay is fun and entertaining.

I just purchased AOE III for my PC and yet I can still come back and play this to be entertained. The graphics are still excellant, the varity of game playing options are there. The on-line play is ok. I don't know how anyone could get bored. Just add more players, a smaller map with less resources. How do you like them apples. I play this on long flights to the west coast and I always wish I had another 15 minutes.
I like the game a lot. There is one issue. However I think it's kinda big. I own a mac. My friend owns a pc. We can't play the game together because of this. That should have been fixed, patched, or whatever. Other than that. The game is really a classic and I'm jumping on the band wagon late. Lots of interesting facts you learn about each civilization.
