I've owned the Discovery II since the 80s, finally deciding to purchase a newer-version when the repairman charged $130 for a simple tune-up. The Aerus Electrolux Legacy [AEL] looks amazing with vintage Electrolux styling, a hard case body for trapping sound & dirt, no silicon hand grips - it chaffs skin and is an irritant, a super-low front deck which fits under all my furniture. The hose attaches quickly, the vacuum runs smoothly yet isn't too heavy, the U-style bags are easy to change, the motor is quiet, and there are no unnecessary bells or whistles. The carryall keeps all the attachments organized, is portable, lessens the weight of the AEL, and keeps messy hoses out-of-the-way until needed. However, the vacuum doesn't seem to have enough suction. I ran it over a throw rug and the vacuum did not pick up dirt, but also didn't pick up the rug. I've used four other vacuums over the past five years - all an attempt to replace the Discovery II - and all the vacuums had great suction and they picked up the throw rugs. The AEL may need servicing as I purchased it used, but it was listed as barely used, so not sure. At this time, I want to give the AEL four stars out of five and hope that the cleaner needs a simple adjustment. There are so many great points about the AEL, and the entire Electrolux line, but the lack of vacuuming power is a major concern. If the vacuum is repaired and works as expected then I will up my rating to five stars; if the repair affects no change, then I will lower my rating to two stars, perhaps even one. .Read full review
