These traps are solid. No worries about the animal getting out. I had bought a collapsible trap at first and the first rat I caught managed to force his way out against the door and wire wall. The traps are coated with something so they won't rust. Trap action is smooth and seems like a reliable trigger mechanism. It worked well for me so I could rid my shed of rats completely in a few days. (Peanut butter on something seems to be good bait.) It's also nice to get 2 traps of different sizes in case I need to catch something else in the future and the way they store one inside the other is a plus.

I caught several raccoons, and a possum during past week. This morning come to find the raccoon I trapped last night escaped this morning! There is a flaw in the construction of the trap door flapper. As you see in the photos the hinges for the trap door are not tack welded together around the frame of the cage!! The racoon just pulled it apart. Could not believe when I found out how he escaped. Material is too weak and should have been tack welded so that you can't pull the hinge apart. I have contacted the MFG for warranty. Will see what happens. Would be really scary if this happened when transporting the raccoon in my vehicle.... If it wasn't for this flaw, I would have recommended this trap. But to me this is a serious flaw in the construction of this live trap. It got 2 stars since before this happened it did catch some critters.Read full review

Easy to use - as long as you remember what it is you are trying to do. The directions were easy to read and they included pictures. The caveats seemed fine. Unless you protect it from the elements and keep the springs greased, I don't think it will last more than a year or two. But for less than $40 its a great value.

Works great! Raccoons were trapped & out of our yard within 2 days. Would highly recommend! Make sure you put the trip rod INSIDE the hollow holding tube. We didn't know it was hollow the first night so it didn't work right. We also oiled inside the tube so it would slide easier. We put a single sheet of newspaper on the cage bottom to cover the trap door plate (they're smart!), & fastened a tiny plastic bowl to the bottom (for the cat food) so he couldn't get to the food from the outside. Worked great!

Went on U tube to learn how to set the mechanism, enclosed instructions were not clear to me and the photos were too dim. But was actually easy to set and to my huge surprise, caught the offending possum at the first try! I would say, the proof is in the pudding, meaning, it works!!!
