I bought this book for a computer and web design I'm taking in college. I was very happy to see that the CD came with the book and that the book was in pretty good condition. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase. I've played around in Photoshop for a couple years, but never had any real instruction until I took this class. This book has been very helpful in showing techniques using tools that I didn't know how to use (healing brush, patch tool, etc.) I've found the lessons to be very helpful and important for everyone using Photoshop to do; because even if you know a lot about it, this book teaches you step-by-step how to do things that you may not have known how to do. Great book, I would recommend it to anyone interested in Photoshop!
I have supported my family for 42-years in technical publications. I'm a retired technical writer/editor/manager/publisher. I can't seem to get away from it. This publication (guideline) is written in my favorite teaching style. A technique which I call "interactive/action/reaction" style. It breaks away from the annoying technique in which the writer instructs the reader (student) in specific technical terms, jargon, and a vernacular which is common to the expert but only confuses the(unfamiliar)student. The student reader usually thinks to himself, "What did he say?" and throws the book in the trash instead of learning something. I highly recommend the CS2 Classroom in a Book. The Adobe Creative Team has done an excellent job however; whoever wrote the title of this request used a lowercase s instead of an upper case S for Adobe Photoshop CS2. Can't seem to get away from being an editor. JohnRead full review
My wife is taking a class about Photoshop and how to use it. I thought that this book would be a great reference after she finished the class. It comes with a CD and lots of references that seem to be pretty good. However, after the class was over, the instructor stated that he used to use this book as a text, but there were so many inaccuracies and mistakes in it that he no longer uses it. It still may be OK for some folks. Especially if they have not had the advantage of taking a formal class. Most likely, I will sell it again on Ebay.
I book this book for a class in digital imaging. It was just what I needed to help get past the frustration of learning Photoshop on my own. The only thing that I wish it provided, however, was alternative methods to find and use features used in the lessons if the user is using the CS version. Some other books do this and it is extremely helpful.
I had to purchase this book for a class. The book is very easy to follow. It has complete step-by-step directions. The book also shows images and graphics to show you exactly what to do. It is a little boring, as I am all ready familiar with Photoshop. However, if you have never used Photoshop I think it would be extremely helpful.
