I learned what I know about image editing using Photoshop 6.0 and installed it & used it on every version of Windows from Windows 98 to 98SE to XP to Windows 7 64bit. Then ... my disc got damaged and I couldn't use it anymore. I bought this 12 year old version of Photoshop 7.0(1) because I KNOW how to use it, it it a GREAT price, and am not interested in any of the "in the cloud" versions Adobe is now offering. It works perfectly. I tried using GIMP, but after using Photoshop, I had a hard time "re-learning" the tools and methods I've become familiar with in Photoshop. I'll probably be using Win 7 and Photoshop 7 for the next 10 years.
Photoshop is a great program and the industry standard for many applications. I have used it at work for many years but when I went to purchase my own copy for home use, was dismayed to find Adobe now only offers the program as a cloud service (with a monthly fee). I was thrilled to find version 7.0 still available as a disc that can be purchased outright. Installation was easy and went without a hitch, and I've only spent a few hours working with it so far, but functionality and performance has been great. I had previously downloaded the cloud version of Photoshop as a trial version, and in terms of performance, this software works better with my Windows 10 system than the cloud version (which seemed to make greater demands on my computer resources). I am very satisfied.

Version Seven is a spoiler. I had a copy of #6 and I found myself fighting with it constantly. Seven is infinitely superior. I'm so glad that I changed up. And installing? Piece of cake. I DID uninstall the older one - this could've one reason why it was so easy. This was like so much butter... painless.

The more modern versions of PhotoShop (the CS versions) are designed to work on 32 bit and 64 bit operating systems, but PhotoShop 7 is an older 16 bit program and WON'T work with Windows 64 bit. So to use this PhotoShop 7 you need to have a 32 bit version of Windows. PhotoShop 7 is a great program to have and use!
