Adobe claims their software is easy to use. What a joke! We have a modern invention called language. That is easy to use. Pictorgraphs are not! Adobe has made an attempt to turn a PC into a MAC. It just does not work. The program makes you go thru contortions to perform simple tasks such as adding color to text. In my opinion this is a terrible program. The book is almost as bad as the program as many of the step by step instrctions, just plain do not work. If there is more that one way to perform a task, the book gives you the most difficult way to perform the task. Both the program and the instruction book need a lot of work. I have used Corel Draw, Ventura Publisher, Quark Express, and even Microsoft Publisher. The user interface in InDesign is the worst of any program I have seen.
I am currently using Indesign for the first time. I ordered this book before class started because this was listed as needed. However, CS3 is the old version and we are on CS6. So, my book has remained unopened.
This book was an awesome resource for me to use when getting aclimated to INDESIGN. It got me off to the much needed good start.
