Nice unit, the remote is not as nice as my GTP-500II remote is, but since the 500II's power supply went belly up and I needed a pre-amp that worked to get back to functionality, I'm very happy with the GTP-500. Good sound quality and the FM unit works well--I'm in a remote area and it does a good job pulling stations in.

This is a very strong contender in the mid level audio world. I am not a big fan of combo tuner / pre-amp, but this unit fills the bill in both areas. Very good pre amplification stages that will satisfy most listeners. For the money you cannot go wrong with this unit.

Although this preamp/tuner was made back in the late 80's or early 90's, it does everything I need in a tuner preamp. I've been a fan of Adcom for 10 or 15 years, ever since I bought one of their big 200 w/channel power amps for $50 at a yard sale. Wish I hadn't sold it, but I have 2 of the 545-II's now so that's keepin' it in the family so to speak. Very clean sounding music through my 4 Klipsch Heresy speakers out in my workshop. The fact that it has a phono inputis a plus now that turntables are now back in vogue. I was totally satisfied with my previous Adcom preamp/ tuner, but when I saw that the 500 had two pre-amp outputs, that's what sold me on the unit. I don't have the remote control for it, but don't need it. The only qualm I have about the unit is that every time I turn it off, the output selector defaults to the top of the menu selector and I have to push the selector button to get it where i want it. A small price to pay for having the dual pre-amp outputs. I couldn't be happier with this unit!!Read full review

I don't know what year this was made. It has no phono input. It is clean and good looking. I tested it against Harmon Kardon PT2300 preamp thinking it would sound better coupled with my Adcom amplifiers. I liked the sound I got from my HK better, cleaner and more expansive. The HK also has phono input and subwoofer outs, left and right, which the Adcom lacks. It is a solid unit, but I came away a bit dissappointed compared to the HK.
I bought a McIntosh power amp before I got this Adcom preamp. It works great. fr the price I have no complaints.
