I wasn't told the DVD key code come with the used game can only used once to activate this game, in order to play this game even for single player mission you will need to set up a battle.net account and if the Key code come with the original DVD sleeve already been used(registered) then you can not set up another account with battle.net and without an activeed battle.net account, you can not even to start play this game at all. Unless the seller is willing to release his existing battle.net account to you along with the original DVD, then all you got is a DVD that can be installed, but you can not start to play. Some of the seller will included the two fre guest pass key code only, but each of those guest key code will only let you play for 7 hours(including single palyer mission only) then it will lock you out and no further play is allowed till you buy another new key from Blizzard for $59 each. I really think Blizzard should stick with the DVD in machine requirement for this game to play, so once the original done playing he or she can sell the DVD to another owner to play without giving any personal information that come with a Battle.net account.Read full review
***Beware to those that purchase a used copy(see below) Let it be said...the original Starcraft is my all-time favorite PC game, so this creates high expectations for the second game. I have played Starcraft 2 for a few hours offline and it is like playing Starcraft but with some upgrades to the game. This is a good and bad thing. This game will be just more Starcraft, but that is a good thing. I love the game, but it is like watching a sequel to an excellent movie. The second movie doesn't usually live up to the standards created by the first movie. This game isn't ground-breaking, but very, very good none-the-less. You owe it to yourself to play this game if you loved Starcraft or you like RTS games. ***Now the downside, at least for me. I bought the game used and if the gave was already activated on the Blizzard website you can't use the same CD Key (not even offline play). I had to play as a guest and my time ran out after a couple of short hours of play. :( Now I have to mail the CD case to Blizzard, so they can deactivate the old code and issue me another one. In my opinion this really sucks! With the original game all you needed was the CD Key on the case and you were good, at least I know it was for offline play. * I think the $59.99 original price point is a bit high even for this great game.Read full review
The campaign in this game is fun, but you can only play as terran and a little as protoss, its just sad because you have to buy the other campaigns when blizzard releases them. For 60 bucks you should be able to get all three races. Dont get me wrong the campaign is fun, but if you love zerg you dont get to play as them unless your doing multiplayer. The Multiplayer in this game is awesome however, you can gain hundreds of achievements and in-game rewards. Many people have created custom game types which are great to play when the usual game play grows boring. Overall good game. I dont think its 12 years waiting good but its fun.
tarcraft 2 is a great game. I got it the day it came out and haven't touched another game since. Like the original Starcraft, it's an almost perfectly balanced RTS with three unique races. The Terrans, Zerg, and Protoss each have many new units and tricks up their sleeves, and as with the original, the game takes mere hours to learn but a lifetime to master. Each and every last unit has its perfect situation where it can be used to turn the tide of a game. The production values are phenomenal all around. The sounds and voice acting are fantastic, the attention to detail is amazing, and if you've got a computer that can handle them, the visuals on max settings are absolutely gorgeous. And it doesn't just look and sound good; it plays good, too. A bunch of little technical issues from the original have been fixed: you can issue commands to multiple hotkeyed groups at light speed without some commands being lost, your own units will actually move out of the way when you're trying to construct a building, rally points are more efficient and separate ones can be set for worker units, etc. It's all the fun of the original, but it's now sleeker, sexier and handles better. It is faster paced than the original, and the multi-player automatic match-making system is Blizzard's best yet. As a bonus, it (like Starcraft and Warcraft III before it) ships with a map editor that lets you customize nearly any aspect of the game; skilled map-makers will be making new maps, missions and mini-games for years to come.Read full review
I bought this game because I had become a fan of the original Starcraft game. My friends and I would always play against each other in multiplayer mode. Starcraft 2 is a whole new dimension. I haven't played story mode, but just multiplayer alone satisfies the value of the game. I didn't like how Blizzard removed the LAN (Local Area Network) option for the game and it's now online-based. My friends and I would play on campus and the internet connection wasn't the best so playing using the LAN option decreased the lag in the game. But on a bright note, the quality of the graphics and quality of the sound were improved drastically. There are very few games that compare to this one. As a student in the audio production field, I was amazed at the several options Starcraft 2 provides for the player. Not only does it provide 5.1 AND 7.1 surround sound, it also provides Pro Logic!! Very few players would be able to undergo this sound experience due to the high quality equipment needed to set this up.Read full review
