This is a great, but unfortunately short-lived, series. Of the 13 episodes made only 8 ran on FOX before they gave it the axe. Luckily the writers thought ahead and had an 'ending' of sorts in case they were to be canceled. Jay Mohr is excellent as the amoral studio executive. Trying to get a big-budget movie made he enlists the help of his wise and talented call-girlfriend, played by Illeanna Douglas. Jack Plotnick rounds out the cast as Mohr's much put-upon assistant. What is most interesting about this series is that it is written from real writers and producers in Hollywood from their collective real experiences. From their frustrations with Hollywood 'politics' as usual to fussy primadonna stars. Brilliantly written, cleverly acted, and thoroughly entertaining. Some surprise guest stars like Sandra Bullock, Selma Hayak and Scott Wolf. Jay Mohr never looked better too!Read full review
Action was far ahead of its time. Too edgy for network TV, this funny, uncensored, naming-names and calling-names series peels off the glitter of Hollywood moviemaking and shows us the strange but totally addictive, behind-the-scenes truth. Uncensored and very controversial, this reality show wanna be at times features guest superstars that include Keanu Reeves, Salma Hayek, Scott Wolf and Sandra Bullock. Producer Peter Dragon (Jay Mohr, also former host of TV's "Last Comic Standing") builds his stellar career on the three pillars of show businessm prostitution, nepotism and dishonesty. Add to that an ego as big as a Beverly Hills mansion, the aptly-named Dragon who goes up in flames almost daily and his cohorts manage to be politically incorrect, back stabbing, phony, petty, and most of all, ingeniously funny! Action-The Complete Series is the hilarious and outrageous production from Joel Silver (more likely known more for The Matrix Trilogy and Lethal Weapon films). one of greatest tv shows ever!

Action was a series cut down in its prime. It was a hilarious, biting look at Hollywood. How producers are all about the bottom line, how actors are coddled, how writers are mistreated, etc. None of the characters are particularly likeable, and most are incredibly unlikeable. Its a perceptive, satirical show about Hollywood and its a shame it didn't have a longer run.
this was probably one of the most under-rated and under-promoted comedy series of all time! had this been on hbo or showtime, it would probably still be on the air today! as it is, the 1 year run left many longing for more. very edgy, written by writers in tune with the true experience of what hollywood is like. a must see for those who are into insighful, lewd, and hiliarious humor!
