Great laptop! I'm dual booting Windows with Linux and it's going well. BOOTLOADER INFO: There have been many complaints for this model that due to ASUS' Windows 8 Fast Boot integration, the boot loader is not accessible. This is not true. ASUS' website offers instructions on how to boot into the BIOS that do work. The BIOS doesn't offer boot device selection however booting into Windows 8 Recovery mode (not safe mode; see ASUS website for how to) will offer selection for a boot device. Review: I do programming, and school work on this so it fit's the bill: major graphics were not a must but the Radeon 7340 is quite nice. This is a budget laptop so it's not a speed demon but is usefully fast. Pros: - Trackpad is quite nice - Num Pad (personal Preference) - Quiet keyboard (although not a chiclet type, I still like it) - Price - 1 of 2 USB ports is USB 3.0 - HDMI is a bonus Cons: - Battery life isn't spectacular but none the less manageable. - The screen decal (with the ASUS logo) is a plastic zig-zag texture that IMO get scratched rather easily. Invest in protection for that if scratches annoy you. - All of the USB ports and audio jacks are on one sideRead full review
This is a nice laptop. I like it. The windows 8 was a little different at first, but now I am familiar with it. Once you become familiar with it, it's nice. I bought it to replace a 12" Toshiba that died on me. I also like the 15.6" monitor better than the 12". The windows 8 has some features that the older systems do not have. One that was nice was when I put an upcoming event on the calendar, it sent me an email on the day of the event to remind me about it.
I love ASUS products, and this was no different.
