Connected to a solar power system. It does work but has a strobe effect when the voltage drops to the cutoff limit. I have several of these and all are the same. I wish when the relay would de-energized it would be at about 10 volts or when the voltage was too low it would stay off.

Outside uses requires sealant. If not sealed a damp or rainy environment will ruin it.

Why pay a lot for those automatically operating photocell activated, or timer-based, perimeter and outdoor lights. Get a plain 12 volt transformer of reasonable size, and install one of these in a suitable location, protected from rain if possible. A sensor is much better than a simple timer, too, because it is not subject to going whacky after a power outage. This sensor can also operate larger 110 or 220V loads through a relay or contactor. It is rated at 10A, which should be plenty for a large string of outdoor perimeter lights if those lights are LEDs (recommended in place of the inefficient halogen or incandescent bulbs used in the past).
