I picked up this processor after a defective PSU caused my motherboard to short out. After removing the heatsink, I noticed a brownish mark on the CPU. After checking the heatsink for the source of this brown mark, I was a bit iffy on trying it on a new motherboard. Found this for around $30. Compare this to a new FX chip and its a steal. I am using this in a server/transcode system, and it performs well above my expectations. While it won't win any performance awards compared to my i7-5820K, it is also significantly cheaper. In handbrake the average fps sits around 100. On the i7, I hit around 500-1000. Not too bad at the same settings.

The cpu arrived in a plastic container with no foam backing to protect the cpu's pins, most of the pins were bent and i had to carefully bend them into position in order to install the cpu. Also the 4th core was unable to unlock due to a malfunction with the cpu.

I needed to upgrade my old computer which had a Athlon 2.7 GHz CPU with 1 MB cache memory. The old CPU was to weak to handle my newer graphic card. Though, the motherboard is old and I do not afford to buy new parts so a Phenom II seemed to be the best solution for me. This CPU is a triple-core with totally 8 MB of cache memory and it works great with my graphic card, the games I'm playing runs much smother with the Phenom II CPU. Though, I was hoping that there would be a possible chance that the CPU's cores were able to unlock to a quad-core, other people who bought this CPU have3 been able to do that regarding to their commnets to the seller. But that is not a issue, I fine with it and if that would have been possible it had been a brilliant bonus. I give this Product four of five stars. It's a old model and it's not a "super CPU" but it's much better compared to my old one. Therefore I give it four stars, of course, if the cores would have been able to unlock I might have give it five.Read full review
Thats right. I lucked out on the core unlocking lottery. I can clock it up as the Heka X3 I bought @ 3.25ghz or push it a wee bit less with my core unlocking Asrock 880GM-LE mobo and get a stable x15.5 multiplier overclock and it becomes a Deneb X4 running just under 3.1ghz. Not bad for a $15 processor. Runs cool and quietly with an old Rosewill 92mm evo style cooler I had lying around.

I am really impressed on how it performed, very noticeable performance increase. Replaced my old Phenom with this upgrade. Great cpu for a budget Am3 socket motherboard PC, older stuff can still be useful and cheap(er).
