This is a review for the Adams Speedline Super XTD Fairway 14.5* Wood. I bought it after reading several reviews and the reputation of Adams fairway clubs. I am a 7 handicapper senior who plays, at least, 3 times a week and visit the practice range regularly. I have to say that I am mostly dissapointed with my experience with this club. First the feel is very awkward, I presume due to the materials used and the club weight. I can only compare it to the feel one gets when hammering a nail into wood or concrete. It is not easy to hit off the fairway and hitting a good solid shot is the exception rather than the rule. However,on the positive side, when you do hit a solid shot the ball goes far, at least, a 15-20 yds. longer than my previous r11. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this club except to the highly skilled golfer.Read full review
My golf pro told me I should look at three brands of metal woods to replace my old Persimmons recently, when I was taking refresher lessons after a 30 year hiatus from golf. One of his recommendations was Adams. I saw the Speedline 3 Wood on Ebay and did some research. Soon after, I made my purchase on Ebay and the first lesson I had after receiving the club, the pro had me hit around ten 3 woods, and to my complete surprise, all but one went straight down the middle, high and long! I never could hit my old persimmons like that when I was playing regularly 30 years ago. The pro said, "I know you're getting new irons next year, but whatever you do, DON'T GET RID OF THIS 3 WOOD!" I told him I wouldn't consider it. Then the pro said, "If you can get a 5 wood with this shaft, get one!" I did, on Ebay. This time I wasn't surprised when I got the same results with the Adams Speedline 5 wood! I will get their matching driver someday...I selected regular shafts with neutral correction. It's an indescribable sensation for me to hit 3 woods off the deck now and know that I'm not going to top it, slice it, or hook it...it just goes one way, high and straight down the middle. I highly recommend the Adams Speedline Fairway Woods...and you have my word that I have no connection with Adams Golf; I just hit them so well, I love them and I believe you will, as well!Read full review
I was impressed with this fairway wood-hybrid from the start, but waited until I had several rounds completed to see how it worked under a variety of conditions before submitting this review. The course I play is mainly Bermuda, with only small areas having fescue. The speedline 5 wood has as good a distance as any on the market, plus I can hit it out of fairly nasty bermuda rough (this stuff destroys my iron shots), off the sides of hills, and combinations of both with ease. 'Ease' is the key word here, my friends. It is also great off the fairway or teed low. I'm a weekend golfer hitting in the low 90s to mid 80s. For me this is the best of all worlds. - spudless
I had the old model Tight Lies and haven't had the new model, but now that I have it, it is as good, if not better than the old model. Looks and feels great, and easy to hit. I just got it, and played a round with it today, I can ease it out there 200 yards, or crush it 250. Great stuff. Launch angle is fantastic. Have to change the grip to a mid-size tomorrow, and it will feel just like my other clubs. Very satisfied. Highly recommended for mid to accomplished players, but beginners can gain confidence, because it is very forgiving; just like the original model. I hit my 3 iron about the same distance, but this gives me the launch angle that I need for those soft landings; the 3 iron will keep running. I live in Las Vegas, and the fairways are hard and fast; so soft, high landings are necessary.Read full review
For me-I have tried many different Fairway Woods that are on the market, and I have found that Adams makes about the best for the buck you will ever find...One great thing about Adams is they do not skimp on their selections of Shafts. They place premium shafts in their clubs--if you research others it is not so found---Their head design and it's ability to get the ball up and out without twisting and torqueing is amazing. When I buy a new club I am like most people and SLOW my Swing down but the more I use it the harder I swing at it-which is a No No and the ball flight become erratic.. Adams takes the R&D to minimize this action...
