I bought DDR Hottest Dance Party 1 & 2 for my 10 year old son, who loves video games & HATES to exercise. I bought both games because he tends to get bored with things easily. DDR Hottest Party 2 is fairly similar to other DDR games but also has a challenging battle mode. It has songs from the last four decades to appeal to everyone. And just like other DDR games it's a great way to have fun while exercising
Great for a good workout. Easy to follow, just need to begin with easier songs while getting used to it. At least the Wii version has variety of steps and hand motions. You don't to be a professional dancer to play this game. But, if you are looking for a freestyle dance without instructions... on a game/system, you will never find it... maybe in a couple of years in AI (artificial intelligence). Cons: Half of the songs are hardly recognizable.
This "dance" game(for which I bought a separate dance pad from the Wii fitness balance board) splatters the screen with neon flashy bursts of speed faster than hell. Just choosing a game, trying to follow a step or listen to chipmunks-on-old AKII drum machine-remake music is like trying to write the Constution on meth and acid. I don't know, maybe you can make it slow down enough to make the choice of program and song (very limited songs despite the box claiming tons of "smash hits" none are original and I only hope songwriters getting royalties). There is no place in the game/system to just freestyle dance and the games are without instruction, so whatever it chose for you it ends in about 30 confusing seconds. That is no workout. This isn't dancing. I suppose you either have to telepathically connect with the game to know what it wants you to do and when. The extra sound effects and crowd booing are creepy and who wants to be booed while trying to work out?! I have been student and taught dance (tap, ballet, etc) my entire life and was looking forward to this game. For a dancer this is a total waste. I can dance to my iPod, watch Gene Kelly and tap out the number on my own. I do not recommend trying this game, unless you are some kind of computer game freak and know how to fix the problems, and likes to step around to chipmunk music. If you want it to truly dance, my default work out is to put on music loud and get funky! If you like to torture yourself audiovisually and using your hands and feet, this might be right down your dark alley. good night and good luck!Read full review
Great game for working out. Extended features and lots of songs make Hottest Party 2 a keeper. I like the variety and various play modes offered. One snag with the game was trying to figure out how to turn off the Wii-mote dance option (couldn't find it in the manual). I found the Wii-mote option unnecessary, but newcomers to DDR might find it fun.
Good item. Works. DDR hottest party 2 has the best game mechanics out of the Wii games, but it doesn't have original tracks like the other sequels do.
