Used these tunes in a Marshall JTM45 Reissue to 1968 PTP Original build I just did. Amp sounds amazing! Of course there was much more to it than adding just these tunes so without swapping others, I can't say that there might be a better sound but I'll tell you what, for blues or rock, thus amp is the best I have ever heard paired with Marshall 4x12 cab with V30's or my 2x12 Mesa horizontal cab. Might not be an original 1968 JTM45 but it cost a 1/4 the price, sounds as good, and will hold up.

Wow, thought these were going to be good tubes...sorry they are great overlooked tubes for sure. Amazing in all categories "MaGiC" is what they give in all departments nice crisp extended highs, warm midrange, deep low bass. losing out maybe to the best in detail but so engaging where it counts the portrayal of music where it just flows. I replaced a Siemens E83CC to try this out and i've no intention of changing it out yet. IMO it can wrestle with the best Sylvania 3m GB, Raytheon CK 5814 windmills, or the GE 5751 black plate 3m, RCA takes the fight like an Euro tube with the best assets of the USA. Its a best buy, must have for sure.

It's difficult to describe tonal differences between vacuum tubes. You can sight gain figures, microphonics etc. but it's really a subjective thing. That said, I've been listening to them for many years so trust me when I say that the tube I got is superb. Tubes made in the US back in the 60s are some of the best ever made and this is a fine example.

RCA vintage blackplates..as far as American preamp tubes go, it doesn't get much better than this. Lush bottom end, nice airy 3d top end that is never piercing or spiky. Relaxed mid range that sounds perfect and natural right where it should be. Try this tube in V1 of your amp, you won't be disappointed.

For this price this tube makes me wonder why EH and others are in production, there tubes do not come close to the rock sound these RCA have. If you need a 12ax7 for a overdrive channel this GREY plate tube has the rock sound you hear on recording for years. However the RCA long black plate 12ax7a tubes are the cream of the crop for overdrive tones and priced like it but the GREY plate tubes are great also and have a bit more singing highs which I like !
