I gave this selection a "good" rating only because i am a pulp fan.. first and foremost.. and a jarvis fan quite secondly.. I would purchase it again.. though.. if i didnt have it.. Jarvis hides in a skeleton costume.. and makes idle threats a bit beyond "razz a ma tazz".. but maintains his subtle charm.. and a knack for details not with holding.. CD seems like it could have been written in two different parts.. some very slow songs... and some faster ones with experimental noises and jangly "chain gang-ish" drums... only mr. cocker can be forgiven for ripping off lola twice.. once on this album.. and then on his new solo record as well... its amazing to see the two parts he came up with... the one written on heavy muscle is much more of a love song... not unlike disco 2000 for comparasions sake... I havent heard a wolf howl sound effect since morrissey used it in Piccadilly Palare.. which moz also sung with a guest vocalist.. Suggs.. jarvis does well by this teaming.. and has always been recorded as saying he prefers writing lyrics while listening to an already completed track... or as he goes along... this is not obvious.. until you listen a few times.. and jarvis actually slips into 2nd person... which he does not often do .. in pulp stuff (babies).. be he does that in a few songs..switching back and forth on Heavy Muscle.. though i think this is a one time collaboration.. it would be very intereting to see the progression of Heavy Muscle over 2 or 3 albums.... jarvis is much better when hes making it up.. than explaining about his life... i prefer this to his namesake work.... to be honest... and you should too... cheers johnaRead full review
