***A MUST HAVE! A Guide Book of United States Coins 2008 by R.S. Yeoman, and edited by Kenneth Bressett (2007) best know as the RED BOOK is one of the best guides of US Coins. The Official Red Book is a well thought out guide, extensive research and information, excellent color photos, fully illustrated, valuations from 1616 to date. Virtually the easiest to use and the most comprehensive guide of US coins, although I love the feel and look of the Hardcover edition, the Spiral-bound catalogue is even easier to use (I am referring to the 61th edition of the Red Book). The Research Editor Q.David Bowers is probably the best know personality in numismatic circles, has written, edited, and participated in numerous books, his expertise in the numismatic fild and extensive experience in the business is hard to match, and the well known Valuations Editor Jeff Garrett add great expertise to this catalog. This is a great book that breaks down each US coin minted. It covers the different grades, their respective worth, and how to grade each type of common coin and what to look for instead of giving a blanket statement to use for all coins such as "the design on the obverse will have slight wear." It also covers some of the rare "error" coins and their values. It's a great book that I would recommend to other coin collectors.
It's a good book to have in your coin collecting Reference Library
