I had high hopes for this CD, as there were several reasons for buying it. First, I remember very vividly the Rodgers Organ Company's "Gemimi" series analog organs, married to wind blown pipes during the 1970's. They were far ahead of their time, and quite successful. This recording, and organ unfortunately are not. Second, I thought it would be a lovely Christmas collection to have. Unfortunately, most of these arrangements are quite obscure. The organ is 41 years old, and had been redone in 1992, and is installed in The Sacred Heart Chapel at Loyola Marymount University here in California. The organ is married to 28 ranks of pipes, and the electronics were rebuilt by former Rodgers engineers. I don't know if it is the recording, the artist's bizarre registrations, or a combination thereof, but this is an awful sound! The recording and organ sound totally mono, there is no sense of seperation for any kind of "stereo" sound. The organist, David Hicken, obviously is unfamiliar with the ideosyncrasies that are inherent in analog organs....in other words, what stop combinations NOT to use. Save your money on this one! Not worth it.Read full review
