Over all the unit does as stated in the manual but for one thing that is needed to align cameras using a tablet. Mobile monitor is no longer in the firmware. The only work around if you need to do is to use the CMS software on windows a laptop. That also means you have to assign a laptop to remotely monitor while at the location using the CMS software instead of using software the is for the tablets to view.

It does a good job of recording, I am using 8 cameras. It a little difficult searching for past events, it should have a better fast search function. It does OK when capturing a snapshot, but it is in a seemingly flawed format. I downloaded a free program from the internet, and run the picture, or video though it, and it comes out in a usable format that I can share. The instruction manual is very poor, basically no help. I pulled my hair out until I got familiar with the thing, and I still don't really have it down pat. Very poor documentation is the biggest complaint, but the price offsets that, in my opinion! And it is stable, and dependable, just keeps tickin'!

I bought two of the 8 channel Kkmoon DVR's to replace my two old Zmodo DVRs (model ZMD-DD-SBN8) that didn't have HDMI nor could send email when motion was detected. All DVR's have a learning curve and take time to learn as each are similar but also different in how to access areas and how you want them to work. I tested these Kkmoon DVR's with extra security cameras on hand to a TV. I set up each DVR with a STATIC IP and wow it works great. I have 2 cameras (of the set up) with AUDIO on each DVR and they work great on the DVR as well as through the CMS software for your PC. DON'T loose that little CD with this software. In fact, back it up to your hard drive so that you have the manuals and all the software this DVR comes with. Getting the audio to work with the CMS software to my PC was a bit tricky, but I finally figured it out and works as well as going to the TV that the DVR is hooked up to, and hear audio through the TV with HDMI Hookup. AND these DVR's send email to me upon motion detection of the certain camera's I have it set up to. (BTW, use the free hMailserver and set it up on a PC to send you email - I use Thunderbird to get my email for this account set up with hMailServer) - set up with out SSL and no hassle or headaches as you get with Gmail or Yahoo etc by using hMailServer) For the price of this 8 channel DVR with PTZ and AUDIO and for what I wanted to work with my current outdoor security cams around our home that we own, this is a fantastic deal and works as well as the more expensive Zmodo DVR's I had. You do have to install your own hard drive (this is a no brainer, and SATA hard drives now are so inexpensive) The DVR's have the power and sata hard drive connectors already inside the DVR's ready for one to install their own hard drive. The only thing I have not been able to figure out is how to get SNAPSHOTS of motion detection to send to me via email when it detects motion. Currently, only getting text messages stating which DVR sent it and which CAMERA saw motion. But so far this is working great for me. CMS software really makes this shine in what it can do with the DVR's. It's just a matter of understanding how to get things to work. Update (1-31-2016) I love this Seller & this Kkmoon DVR system so much that I bought 2 more as back ups just in case. I did also buy the Defeway DVR 8 channel, 4 audio system which is comparable to this Kkmoon however the CMS software was so ick compared to what you can do with the CMS software that comes with this Kkmoon DVR system. The upside though was the Defeway can take and email SNAPSHOTS when motion is detected when the Kkmoon system does not HOWEVER, the Kkmoon system via the CMS software to my PC does better by sending the WAV sound of my choice sounding an alert when motion is detected as well as send me a Text email letting me know which DVR and camera saw motion. I really like this DVR system. So far, seems rock solid and dependable and much better than my old Zmodo systems as well as even the Defeway DVR systems I bought. Also, as another reviewer mentioned, be sure to buy the Western Digital PURPLE Hard drives. They work specifically for Security DVRs such as this sytem.Read full review

1 - The thing that looks like a mini-cd in the picture is just a printed cardboard circle. 2 - The site hosting "a downloadable operator's manual" is blocked by firefox as a malicious site. 3 - The only downloadable software on the site (going in with Internet Explorer) is a remote control program. 4 - Another link sent to me by support is in Chinese - and leads to a google page with dead links One helpful tip for others - some settings changes in the recording program require a full reboot to take effect. .Other changes I still haven't been able to make permanent.

Excellent deal for the money but you failed to mention that it does not come with a hard drive little misleading even though still good price product work good just put my own hard drive in by the way I put it to get 2 terabyte an it works great I think the processor runs a little hot so I put an old heatsink in from one of my motherboards just glued it to the top of the processor and a tiny fan in there to blow some air over it so it runs a lot cooler I think it's a great little DVR
