Like so many other of the reviewers who now own Zildjian Quick Beat 14" Hi-Hat Cymbals, I had my eye on getting the set up for some time. What I think "makes or breaks" the "Quick Beat" set up, is the unique construction of the bottom hi-hat cymbal. For starters, unlike a standard cymbal, the bottom cymbal does not have a bow like shape, with a pronounced bell. It is perfectly flat. It is also quite heavy, much heavier than the top cymbal. That formula of lighter cymbal on the top and heavier on the bottom holds true, even on the standard set-ups, but is more pronounced with the Quick Beats. Second, the bottom cymbal has the four circular holes cut out of it, which allows the top cymbal to come down quicker and harder, as one plays the hi-hat, as the normal air resistance is lessened due to the air being pushed down largely runs through the holes in the bottom cymbal! Two great unique features that result in the Quick Beat Hi Hat cymbal set-up being my personal favorite.Read full review
To me Zildjian Cymbals will be my favorite cymbals cuz that is what I started out when I first played drums. I've had just about every Zildjian that's out there. I'm currently using 14" Zildjian New Beats. Those will work for the Heaviest of Metal, Hardcore and Rock. The Quickbeats do not sound anything like the Newbeats. The Quickbeats are faster and more high pitch. Makes you play more funky. I bet these will cut through just as well playing Heavy Rock! I'm listening to my recording of these. I have a Studio. Hi hat barks are fast and clear. The Newbeats are a little slower on hi hat barks. Playing with foot. Notes are fast. 16 notes are clear and fast. Wide open they have a nice floating sound. Kind of Glassy. I feel I'm a dance, funk drummer now! Reason I bought them cuz I always wanted a pair. Those hole were meant for something. The bands I've seen playing them live sounded so good I wanted them 25 years ago. I am a collector. So when I die bury me with my Zildjians!Read full review
The QuickBeat Bottom is my go-to these days, because it produces a nice crisp chik when I close the hat using the foot pedal alone. Great for jazz, pop, ballads...any style where high hat subtlety is valued. Works great with New Beat and A Custom top hats.

If you want good sound and performance these Quick Beat hihats are the best. Great sticking response and the chick created between both cymbals is pronounced and embraced by my band mates.
