I have bought this microphone to shoot interviews, my vlog, and as general backup mic. The pros are: - inexpensive (actually the cheapest on-camera mic in Rode line) - very good build quality (metal body) - robust enough (I'm leaving the mic attached to its shock mount, and just dropping it into may travel backpack) - everything included (wire, shock mount, dead cat) - it just work, no worries about batteries and power switch - one can use it to record on the phone (tested on Iphone with cheap cord adapter) The cons are: - my Canon dslrs records "floor noise", this comes from noisy preamp in the cameras, not from the mic itself. If one wants to get clean input signal, he needs the mic with amplifier, like Rode VideoMic Pro, which allows to set signal boost on mic and then reduce in-camera gain to minimum. This comes along with the much more costly and bulkier mic, which needs batteries. To me setting denoiser filter in post is no problem at all, making Rode Videomicro the best all-around solution.Read full review
