This book is a wonderful and in depth look into the life of Mary. Her life is full of misery and waiting. She is almost like a caged animal most of the time and longs to be free...which is normal for a royal who is supposed to be in charge of their lives. Mary looks to her relatives and friends for help and most of the time they let her down time and again. Most of us know what happens at the end of her story but not many of us know about her story. Margaret George does a wonderful job giving us a look into the tragic life of Queen Mary.
I just finished reading Mary Queen of Scotland and the Isles and found it to be a wonderful experience. I have recently read a lot about English Royalty, namely Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. It seems that Mary of Scotland was an antagonistic and jealous woman who wanted only to usurp Elizabeth's throne any way she could. I felt this book provided a whole different angle on her and gave me insite to her personality and possible struggles. Overall I loved the book and enjoyed every minute of it.
