These boots did the job of protecting my feet and helping to keep them warm, despite stepping in and out of sub 40 degree waters this spring. However, they did not perform as well as I'd like them to on step portage trails. My feet tended to slide around inside them. If you are planning to carry over step or difficult portage, look for a more supportive water shoe.
