As I work on railcars (third shift 8PM to 630AM), I have been searching for a good light to replace the dinky little 100 lumen led lights my company gives us. I tried a few of the $15-$20 Ebay led headlamps that claim 650-750 lumens and was disappointed to say the least. So I ponied up and bought this. I already had a Nitecore I4 batterry charger that I have had for years and figured the quality and performance should be decent. This light well exceeded my expectations! As I mount this light to a hard hat, the standard supplied head strap was useless to me so I fashioned one from a single rubber strap so I didn't have to use paperclips to keep it from sliding off the smooth hardhat like all these head straps do. It is now very secure and low profile (it tucks up right next to the hardhat unlike the others that projected 2+ inches out) and the battery is very easy to change while still attached. The other nice thing is that it only takes a single 18650 instead of the dual rear mount 18650 battery setup that so many of the other lights require. It is very light weight and weighs barely more than the battery itself. Battery life is exactly what is claimed and I can use it non stop on the 2 or 3 intensity setting (plenty bright in these modes) and still get 7 hours out of a battery. Turbo (highest mode) will get you more like 3 hours with a quality battery. The light output is where it really shines! It advertises 1000 lumens and I'd say it is a true and accurate measurement. In Turbo mode, you can almost melt paint! Well not really but be careful to turn it off before you face a co worker or you will temporarily blind them (no lie)! The light pattern is also 100 degree which is close to what we normally see as opposed to a little shot glass sized circle of light like most of the cheapo's offer. The light is bright in the center 90 degrees and tapers to the outside in an elipticle pattern like the headlights on your car. All in all, a great little light in my opinion! I would definitely buy another one but this light has a 5 year warranty (who does that anymore). Hope this review helped!Read full review

Hi I have bought two when you use this nitecore Its very very bright better than any headlamp on the market Its not much heaver than a P@$#%L or B@#@%K D%$$#D. After you use this head lamp you wont use anything else. Its not a real tight beam but It reaches out there , you do not need the strap on top I took mine off don't need It. The reason I gave It a 4 instead of 5 was because the first setting was 1 lumen useless setting It should have been at least 5 or 10 lumens , Its so dim you might but It into your pack thinking It was off , Nitecore needs to fix that If they want to have the best headlamp, 70 lumens on the next setting Is great and up, and you just say wow thats awesome.....

I like the following features a lot: - it uses 1 18650 rechargeable battery. - Battery and light is all in one unit in the front.. no wires to snag or get damaged. - The control; you click it once and it goes right to the lowest power, and that is good enough for most uses and LONG battery life. And you can click up 4 more times for more light if needed. That is a good way to do it, don't have to click through any features like flashing or sos modes most people never use. - The lowest power is great for inside a tent or building and long battery life, the highest power throws a good wide beam out 100 yards or more. I have only used it every evening for a week but seems well built and seems like it will hold up.

As a mid-level flashlight enthusiast, I continue to find Nitecore flashlights to be a fantastic choice. They offer great quality products and the HC30 is no exception to that statement. I really enjoy that I can use the same 18650 batteries with this light as I am using in my Nitecore P12 and my P30 flashlights. Each of the model light that I have listed are great choices of lights for a person looking for top notch equipment but without breaking the bank. Go Nitecore, I do.!.

great light and you cant beat the price ,i HIGHLY reccomend buying the nitecore batteries and charger too .i originally bought uitrafire batteries thinking i would save money but after about 5 months of using them they randomly fried my light. luckily the light has a 5 year warranty so i got a replacement. also you really dont need the top strap so i removed it on mine .i use my light for mechanics all night in the shop and every time the battery dies i just switch it ,you can use this light for hours at a time !!best headlamp or flashlight to have right here!
