The Mag release has to be pushed in to install an extended magazine. No problem at the range, but not for defense or carry. I haven't tried other aftermarket mags.

Once installed play with it, put the magazine in and out over and over at least 50 times per magazine fully loaded and unloaded, do not put a round in the chamber.
