This is the second external Seagate HDD I've purchased. The first was a 3TB Backup Plus about a year ago. Both are USB 3.0 and transfer quickly. The 5TB Expansion Drive seems to be a little faster and quieter although it is a larger memory size. I have both connected to my router for easy local access from any device on my network as well as being able to get to my files from anywhere with internet access. I would highly recommend this drive. Great value and a great product.

A lot of bad reviews on this product. Yes its cheap but you get what you buy. I have bought two of these and One I bought I use all the time and it is starting to make noise but hasn't failed. The second one I just use every now and then and haven't had an issue.

This is an excellent value for the size, and with USB 3.0 it's fast and stable! Will buy another one, when this one gets full!

Work great and I have two of these hooked up to my Netgear router and have sync software on my laptop that keeps them mirrored for my home file DLNA needs. Movies and music serve up great! USB 3.0 is plenty fast.

As much as others talk about sending their stuff to the 'cloud' I prefer to have mine close at hand. I may send some items to the cloud, someday, but for now I trust Seagate - this is the 2nd Seagate, 5TB external drive I've purchased where I mainly use for TV shows, movies and training videos as well. My work involves large format illustrations, animations and so on that having a large drive like these takes the worry out of hitting the 'save' only to find out that you lack storage capacity. Both drives look exactly the same, which gives an overall professional look rather than having multiple, multi-shaped, various capacity drives sitting on your desk. Being as OCD as I am, I will likely buy more so that I can use each for separate types of storage; personal, work, videos, training, ebooks, and more. When it comes to reliable, digital data storage, I always recommend Seagate first and foremost.Read full review
