Awesome film! Vampires galore and very bloody..

I had seen the second one first, and frankly it didn’t ruin this one for me. The cast all plays their roles well, Josh Hartnett does an amazing job as the leading man, and Danny Huston delivers as always. If you’re into Vampire gore, this is definitely for you! Wouldn’t necessarily bring the kids though....

  • Graphic-Novel Noir Done Right !! - Downright Evil !!

Director David Slade crams Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith's Unusual Graphic Novel through the Modern-Horror Grinder, falling back on flash cuts, audio screeches., and an abundance of gore. Amidst these jugernauts of atmospheric tricks., the story-concept remains powerfully strong. Every Winter in Barrow, Alaska — the Northernmost Town in the United States — experiences a full month without sunlight. This year, an Army of Starving Savage Vampires descend on the Town to take advantage of the Natural Darkness. Local Sheriff Eben Oleson (Josh Hartnett) and his estranged wife, Stella (Melissa George), must put their differences aside long enough to try and protect Barrow and it's townsfolk. The Night premise explains well, why Slade's film is so dark. Seemingly shot through a "Blue-Lens" ...

  • Good Wholesome family fun

It's not often that Hollywood manufactures a film that can be enjoyed by all walks of life, toddler to absurdly old, the whole family is sure to love the action packed sequences, and the greatly woven story that is our screenplay. Set in Barrow Alaska, where we're told through the first piece of text, 30 days of night sets in every winter. (although I'm not sure that the statement is true) Therein, a hilarious set of events follows as ancient vampires make their way to the wide metropolis of Barrow, and as the Pilgrims before us, offers the locals a feast of epic proportions. Ofcourse, at the locals expense, the feast proves wildly successful for the band or pack or whatever a group of vampires are called, until an unforeseen turn in the vampire's plan evolves.........

  • Josh Harnett's worst characterization

Although Josh Harnett isn't a top shelf superstar, he has done good jobs in past films. However, in this movie, which I think is a Uwe Boll homage film, Harnett's character is hollow, devoid of any kind personality. He exhibits the same stare on his face throughout the movie, and his supporting cast makes no effort in shining out. Now, the villains in the movie are a slight different from the usual modern convention of the vampires, these ones have no sense of refinement, are just cannibalistic hunters bent on destroying all. Their leader, however thinks of himself as an illuminated man (pardon the pun), speaking in metaphors, verses, like a frigging preacher. If you go frame by frame in the climax of the movie you see the fakeness of Harnett's Superman punch on the Alpha Vampire. An utter ...

Aaaaaand another review of a movie that I watched a few weeks ago, I may not remember all of the plot intricacies but I do remember this... it was AWESOME!! A small Alaskan town that loses daylight for 30 straight days, plunging the place into constant darkness, sounds like the perfect place for a group of bloodthirsty vampires to hang out and eat people! But wait a second, these can't be REAL vampires. They don't shimmer with glowing lights, none of them are pretty and I don't see ONE teenage girl fawning over them, don't these writers know anything?!?! Based on the graphic novel, this is an EXCELLENT adaptation that captures the book very closely indeed. Imagine a zombie movie, where a small group of survivors must try and outlast the group of slow movie monsters until they can be ...
