Lots of fun charging these 2 in series to 4v with a 456 lithium battery charging board which limits current to 1 amp, then bypass the circuit to reach 5 v for a few minutes. They will run pcb LEDs for several hours. Current control is mandatory while charging to protect the power supply or generator or what have you. Two in series is no big balancing problem, but for you car battery makers- you need the balancing boards etc. I am wondering about longevity since these are pricey. Other brands cost more however. Now go check out Schottky diodes and get to work.

I have a 12 of these and a number of other supercaps by the same company both larger and smaller in capacitance. Almost all of the others will hold up a charge for a numbers of days or even weeks without much loss. A great number of these 100F caps will self drain in a night to less than half capacity. I put these on a CV CC charger at 2.4 V and 0.2 Amps for a number of days multiple times to make sure they were well broken in before reviewing.

One of the two capacitors I received seems to have excessive leakage. I charge them in series with two small solar cells. When one capacitor reaches 2.7v the other only has 1.6 to 1.8 volts. I have evened out the voltage on them but the one looses charge faster and won't stay balanced.

Bought these types (and the 500F as well) earlier. The 500F was measured to be around 300F, the 100F was measured to be around 40F. Charged up to 2.5V , it started immediately to discharge (without any load except the voltmeter (which is several megaohms) and in half a minute it's already half volt less... One of them also very quickly became open circuit for unknown reasons (didn't overload them). Not recommended. Esp. compared to another type I bought some time earlier, which are only 10F but keep their charge for weeks.

The 2.7v 1amp charging rate takes a while on first charge but the longevity is amazing. Ideal for low voltage smoothing of circuits and battery life.
