I decided to buy this game because it sounded interesting, and the graphics looked cute. Ha ha. I was not disappointed, and I'm having a blast figuring out how to play. It would be better, though, if they first explained how to do some stuff. You have to figure out how to use things on your own.
I bought this as a gift for my brother. He seems to enjoy it very much. It is a more puzzle based game, so if those aren't your thing I would look elsewhere.
Title sums it up "Sick English dub" I was hoping for Japanese voice but I was wrong was many reviews have pointed out the english translation was aweful too and i agree, but it is an very interesting game with experimental concept. It really isnt for everybody
I was attracted to the story line of the game and it has not disappointed me in that regard. There is also good use of sound and music to convey the emotions of the characters and story. Graphics are pretty good for the kind of gameplay it is. It is not really a hard game which will be a disappointment for hardcore gamers especially those who prefer RPGs. However the reviewer who made the comment about there be no tuturial in the game is correct. The game just begins after some movie clips....you are thrown into the gameplay right away. Also as you progress through the game, the "virus" that you are trying to defeat does change in its methods of attack. So without any in-game instructions (there are some instructions in the manual) you are on your own to figure things out. At first I was annoyed with this feature but after going through the game I actually prefer becoming surprised like that. Now in regards to the English translation for subtitles and English dubbing....yes...what other reviewers have said is true I'm afraid. The actual voiceovers for the English dubbing isn't the problem...I like the voices...it is just that what they say and what one reads in the subtitle doesn't match up. I mean not at all! But that's not even the real problem. The real problem is because this game is a solely story-oriented gameplay, there is mass loads of dialogue, monologue, and stuff like that. So I guess they couldn't afford to voiceover the entire game (which is not uncommon most games don't 100% voiceover everything either) so more than half of it is just in print to read on the screen. And it is the subtitles and printed dialogue that is the real nightmare. The translation from Japanese to English is SOOOOO poor. The word "she" is used as "he" is just one of numerous examples. I have honestly never seen the like of it in all my gaming! I can't understand how the game even got past quality control. Fortunately the story is interesting enough for me to get past the consistently mistranslated script.Read full review
