It's not bad for what it is. It's a good start to figure out if you like the body of the pen before moving into vintage models. Steel(? It's not gold or gold-plated as far as I can tell) nib needed some adjustment upon arrival, but most pens do, so that's not an indication in either direction of quality, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it as a *first* fountain pen for that reason. Writes fine (not dry, not overly wet - Diamine for reference), ink capacity is alright, keeps up with multi-page note-taking sessions pretty well. There's not a snap in the cap, though, so be careful if you're keeping this in a pocket. Mine is stored upright in my school bag, so the cap is less likely to slip off. It's a beater pen.

I bought this pen for worry-free carry. It works very well, especially given its price point.
