As with all Tourniquet cds, there's always hits and misses. While there's more hits than misses here, do they outweigh the other? The misses are never due to talent, but to creative expression. These guys just simply try things that no one else tries, which of course means that every song will not satisfy every listener. This is a hard-rockin' band. Lots of speed metal and lots of experimentation. With the masterful Ted Kirkpatrick being the kit there's lots of tempo changes and unpredictability. Luke Easter brings more admissable vocals than earlier releases, clearer and with more range. While there's certainly no pop music here, this might be one of their more accessible albums. They've one less guitarist, but Lenaire carries things adequately. Cargo talks of personal responsibility over victimization. Pecking Order speaks of self-righteousness. Broom sees purpose in monotony. Promise is almost a ballad, the pledge of a new father to his adopted child. Twilight also tones it down a bit and speaks of care for the aged. The only melding of classical music comes with K517's drumsolo over a sonata.Read full review
