The authors do an excellant job of explaining the income tax code problems and they stand now and how the FairTax would fix those problems. The authors are fair in pointed out what the opponents to the proposal would say and they debunk these myths in a fact filled but humorous way. They even cover the history of the IRS and Income Tax as it is now in an informative and entertaining way, (and I hate history of any kind so this says alot). This is a must read for anyone even if you disagree with the idea at least you would have a better understanding of why the current tax code has to be changed, but you might also learn that the fairtax is the best way to replace it.
This book is well presented. It is an actual solution to the ever increasing debt situation our country faces. The book explains, in great detail, how the tax would affect all taxpayers. The book and its research are the basis for House Bill HR25 which has been introduced and is active leglislation. The Fair Tax is NOT a value added tax (VAT) as the Europeans have enacted. It is a tax on consumption. When you buy a product, regardless of your economic standing, you would pay a FairTax on that new produce. The FairTax is HR25. Google HR25 to learn more about the actual bill and what it will do for all. HR25 would eliminate the Internal Revenue Service and the Individual Income tax. Who are against the FairTax? Tax lawyers, Tax Service Companies and politicians and lobbiest. Politicians use the Income Tax in its present form to control Americian society. I highly recommend you buy the book. Educate yourself to a refreshing point of view that, in my opinion, will work and bring America out of its economic woes. Then demand your Congressman and Senator to support HR25 and get it passed.Read full review
I have always liked the idea of a national sales tax in place of the income tax. Now that I have read The Fair Tax Book, I am more in favor of it than ever. Not only would income taxes, both personal and corporate, go away, but Medicare taxes and Social Security taxes as well. The amount of taxes collected would actually increase (because many who now illegally avoid paying taxes would no longer be able to), but the amount each individual pays is controllable, and would in most cases go down. I am not just a head bobbing idiot that agrees with anything that comes along. I am a CPA. Those who are arguing against the fair tax either haven't read it, or stand to profit from its defeat. Its time to get behind this idea, and push HARD.
I bought the book about a year ago, and, I gotta say, it is the most concise, clear answer to the question of "What do we do about the Income Tax mess?". It is very easy and entertaining reading, contains very factual information, and, was a very delightful book dealing with a very disliked subject; i.e., taxation. I would recommend it to every high school and college student in the country, as well as, the seasoned reader.
Only the likes of Neal Boortz could take a book about a tax reform plan to number one on the NY Times best seller list. The facts and statistics gathered for this book are as enraging as they are interesting. Not only will you get a brief history lesson on our current tax code you will learn about an idea so revolutionary that it has the IRS and it's underlings scared of what would happen if this bill were ever passed. This is a great read. Entertaining as well as enlightening.
