I got this for the speakers and stands, considered the rest of it free. Turns out the headphones were terrific, and the mic was very usable-out of the box and in the field to do a documentary film shoot the day after I got it. Worked great. I tried it in the studio against some of my "real mics" a few weeks later, and it held up pretty well on the nightmare test (resonator guitar), using the exact same cord, channel, etc. Only put about a 3 db boost on the low end, flat eq the rest of the way. Sparkly. While this isn't a Telefunken U-47, the speakers aren't Yamaha NS-10's, etc-they sounded very accurate and put out a usable image-you aren't spending a gazillion bucks, either. I haven't even taken the foam sheild out of the box yet, didn't need it. The stands are good, solid, and took a bit to figure out how to get together, but it was easy, and could hold up a small SUV-no problem there. Bottom line is, if you are looking for a decent, CHEAP starter rig for your homemade studio, you can't beat this. all you need is a computer, Audacity(free), and a mixer with phantom power, and you can do anything you want. I got this to do documentary film work, so I could leave my stuff at home and have a separate rig for the office. I got this instead of a used set of Event 20/20 speakers, and I am glad I did. Yeah, there is better stuff out there, but this is most of what you really need, for the price of a microphone, and you really won't see much difference. Don't waste your time with USB, just get a small Behringer, Yamaha, etc. $100.00 range mixer, or if you are in a band, use whatever you've got for your PA, you will be fine. Just run it into your computer input, and away you go. Can't beat this with a stick.Read full review
