This was truely a fun book to read. Although I do realize this is a historical fiction book I love how Penman just brought these legendary characters to life. I am definately not on the up and up with my history so I really didnt know how the story would end (lol). Once I got over trying to remember how everyone is related by flipping to the front of the book everytime a new character was named I got into the story. it is exciting and the events are true "ish"! Probably my favorite part is the synopsis at the end when I found out who the remaining sons were... If you love the story of Robin Hood now we really know why Prince John was such a cry baby! Anyways great book, read it if you like the time period, historical fictions or if you want a good book.
Having read all of Sharon Kay Penman's other books I thought that this latest book would be just as good as her others. But I've found that this book is by far her best! It brings you right into the lives of Henry and Eleanor's three sons and won't let you out! I found it very difficult to put this book down and my housework and dear hubby can attest to it! Don't read this book first! Start with Penman's earlier trilogy's and you surely will be absorbed into her Medieval English Kingdom!!
