These are really good sounding amps! They were constructed out of cabinet quality plywood. Although they are solid state, they obtain that sought after Marshall crunch tube tone. I have purchased many of these to build tube amps into, and I always feel guilty removing the solid state boards. After building my own 1 watt Marshall 50th anniversary JCM1, I find it too loud to use in my condo. So lately I have been using the lead 12 as my go to amp. Watch Johann Segeborn in YouTube, be has demos showing how these sound like tube amps. Especially with a larger cabinet!
