I liked dimes since I was little so I have a whole lot of them. So if I am going to have a whole lot of them why not let them be silver dimes! They come in the 1964 mint set which I just love to purchase when I get a chance. I do think they are undervalued and often overlooked by coin collectors who often look for the gold or the very old proof coins which are wonderful too. The problems I have with dimes is that if one has poor vision and if the coin has dark discoloring they can often be mistaken for the Lincoln penny. They weight slightly less than the penny but carry ten times the value of the penny. I would rather weigh my purse down with a bunch of silver dimes in the bottom of it than a bunch of copper clad pennies for jingling change. I like the varied toning of the silver dime over penny... the penny becomes dark brown the silver dime can become many colors. The silver dime is possibly a good starting point for the very young to start saving silver coins as well.Read full review
