had many of these coins many years ago and was very found of them am a graduate of history and have traveled all over Mexico visiting Mayan and Aztec ruins and that is where I had picked up my many of these coins and others back in 70's and 80's and at that time ypu could get them for 50 cents or less in Mexico and I liked the design so always brought home quite a bit, but as luck would have it they were all lost in a move from London back to US in 2011 was very upset but what could I do, am now starting to buy afew just to have because I liked the design so much and go well with my coin collection ! I would have had quite a little fortune now at the price they are selling for . the coin I bought was in very good shape and delivery was very quick am keeping an eye out for a 47 now , but am just amazed at howmuch in worth these coins have gone up in those years . excellent dealerRead full review

I bought the 1948 Mexican 5 Pesos silver coin because it's a great way to invest in silver. It's high silver content of .86 troy ounces is actually HIGHER than the American Morgan Silver Dollar with is .77 troy ounces. What makes the '48 Mexican Peso even a better deal, is that if you want to invest in silver AND have a coin with history, this is a great way to do that. The average Morgan silver dollar will usually cost you much more than the Mexican '48 silver 5 pesos. This way you get "two birds with one stone"...a heavy silver coin (.86 oz) AND a nice historical piece from our neighbor down south. And one more thing, the Mexican mint, known as "La Casa de Moneda de Mexico" is the oldest mint in the Americas that is still minting coins to this day. Personally what I like about this coin is that Mexico has some of the most attractive coin designs of any mint, but that is just my opinion. Bottom line...you can't go wrong buying one of these coins. High silver content and historical design. Compared to the Morgan silver dollar, which is also a very beautiful coin, you'll get more silver per coin with the 1948 Mexican 5 Peso, if that's what you're afterRead full review
It's rather difficult to write a product review about a coin. I don't really look at it as a product that you would use so much, but rather collect. I bought this coin because I collect Mexican coins and currency. I currently own 26 of them dated 1947 & 1948. There's nothing that I really dislike about them in general, I guess my only complant, really, would be that they're becoming more expensive because of the current price of silver and my pockets aren't deep enough to buy a bunch more. I guess I view this coin as most numismatists would, as a piece of Mexican numismatic history that you can hold in your hand, as an investment for the future, and as an example of some of the beautiful and striking coin designs that have come from the mint in Mexico City (one of the oldest mints in the western world). To summarize, I would recommend any coin collector who has never considered collecting the coins and currency of Mexico to look into it. Mexico has a rich and very diverse numismatic history that is well worth learning about and, for me, has been very rewarding to collect. These 5 Peso coins are also a great way to invest in silver because of their purity markings, high silver content, & quality striking.Read full review
Highly detailed silver coinage..The artisry on both sides and high silver content(over 30 grams) make it a must own for any collector..the higher the grade the better..There is something about the texture and luster of Mexican silver that I love..Check some out..

I recently became enamored with some of the Mexican issues. I think some are beautiful coins, so if you can find ones you like and the price is right you may chose to purchase some. Be aware of the coins silver content and purity. Some are an ounce of fairly pure silver while others appearing to be similar have little silver content.
