The first Morgan Dollars bore 8 Tail Feathers, which apparently is an ornothologic impossibility, since bald eagles have seven tail feathers. This error was corrected later in the year but not until nearly three-quarters of a million dollars were made with the 8 Tail Feather reverse. This is a fairly common date that can be found in average Uncirculated grades but is scarce in Gem condition. Prooflike examples make up a small portion of the surviving population and Deep Mirror Prooflikes are an even a smaller subset, although both can be found with relative ease. In MS-64 and better conditions, DMPL 1878 8TF dollars are very rare.
This is most definitely the best coin I own a the moment and never saw 1 with as many flaws as his 1 has and I looked at I for 2 days before I go it! It is a double DDO Ob and Rev with 5 arrow points,4 shafts, every star doubled with full date doubled to many letters and a long nock on the top arrow is very rare for this setup on a coin!Love it and will hold for a long time to come!!

No reverse view available for review before purchase. Assumed seven over eight tail feathers would be recognized which coin does not. Did not understand the meaning of "WEAK" on slab label-my error. Quality of coin is as expected but inability to recognize seven over eight tail feathers greatly diminished the valve of this coin to me. I will investigate more thoroughly next time.
