I counted. It doesn't matter for why I purchased them, but if for some reason you needed exactly 144, then you might be SOL. They're very thin and extremely easy to squish, but pressurized and don't have any markings. Overall great value.

First thing... they don't bounce like you would expect a ping pong ball to. They are very thin made. They are perfect for me though because I bought the cheap ones to use as pistol targets. I will be hanging them from a string and filling them with holes... AWESOME!!!

I bought these to make eyeball props for Halloween. These are not regulation ping pong balls but a great value for hundreds of other uses.

I'm using for an art project. So not sure how they function playing ping pong. I've noticed that the thickness is not uniform all the way around and some balls have softer soft spots than others. I'd guess this must effect the bounce of the ball. For my purpose they just need to be round

I use ping pong balls to lure my laying hens into the nests. It's definitely a cheaper alternative to fake eggs & more durable than plastic easter eggs.
