These cans are very comfortable for me. I prefer circumaural headphones and these are very comfortable without feeling like a head clamp. I also have a big noggin and was afraid these might not fit. They are at the end of the adjustment range but they fit comfy and sit centered on my ears. I can sit with these on for a long afternoon listening session without fatigue. The ear cans are big, but they're light and they stay put without side-of-head pressure some cans exhibit. Sonically, these are very accurate and neutral. There is a slight upturn in the midrange response near low-mids that I notice compared to some of my other headphones, but a quick tweak of the EQ tones that down. That's the only (very minor) flaw as everything else is on the dot, with crisp highs and fairly good bass extension. Note to bass freaks: this is not a rap or hip-hop headphone with exaggerated or "enhanced" bass. Audition before you plunk down $ on them. They're not "thin" at all in bass, just not to a bass freak's taste IMO. I have several sets of cans now and I find these on my head a fair amount since they are so light and they allow me to hear outside sounds so I don't get cagey. A nice set, try 'em out.Read full review

I've owned a lot of studio headphones over the years, and ever though you get to know their strengths and weaknesses, I can finally mix my tracks without having to remember that the bass is bumped on one pair, or to check the mids on another. The AKG 712's are open back, meaning you don't want to used them while recording with mics in the room. Just cup a hand over your ear, and get that "hear the ocean in a seashell effect" and you'll understand why closed backed headphones can colour the sound, unlike these. Closed backed phones are necessary for tracking and DJing, but not well suited to balancing elements in a mix. These AKG-712's are light and comfortable. Their impedance is such that the overall volume, even with something like a USB powered Focusrite 2i4, is more than enough. They are loud with the headphone knob set at the 2 o'clock position. I still check my mixes with my monitors, but since I started using these headphones, my mixes are 97% of the way there using the AKGs. If you get a good mix on these, they will sound great on any system.Read full review

The headphones arrived stupidly fast! :D They're for my son. He is very very particular and he is thrilled. I insisted we wait to be really sure that he really liked them. He loves them. Hope they continue to make him happy.

They got here very fast the only problem is the connector inside the headphone was loose had to glue it back in.

Very high quality sound coming through these--a big improvement from my already sweet Audio Technica 50s. Did a bunch of research and although these are not AKGs top of the top, they are as good as most producers/audiophiles will ever need...and without having to buy $10,000 worth of DACs and amplifiers. I did run these through a booster and it add about 5-10% of difference...loudness and articulation. I ended up sending the SoundBlaster X7s back because I didn't think it warrants an additional $400. Can run these right from a laptop. Headband is not one solid piece of leather which surprised me and color scheme not great for high end cans but overall I'm very satisfied.
