Beautiful worksmanship. Tuners, body, tone ring, easy playing action. All reasons that the Deering company is creating some of the most beautiful banjos out there. Thank you. I'll be playing it for a long time.

Deering banjos are known for their quality and playability and this 6-string banjo is no different. While the Boston series is near the bottom of their professional line and uses a steel, rather than a wooden tone ring, this all-pro banjo is a value when purchased at used prices. The necks are extremely playable and the tuners very responsive. That being said, this banjo is a very heavy instrument (most good banjos are) and probably best used in the studio or as a color instrument for gigs and performances. While it plays like a guitar, it certainly does not sound like one and if you're used to the deep bass tones of your vintage Martin, then you're not going to be impressed as banjos are mostly mid-range instruments. 5 stars if you can find one at a reasonable price with the original Deering case.Read full review

It has a rich woody feel behind the sparkle of the strings. This one had lots of use and still plays great. Quite heavy and stays put when playing. It has a soulful sound, once you hear it, you're sold.
