I use these to make desiccant bags. Adding a couple of tablespoons of silica gel crystals serves as a great desiccant for small containers. Some suggestions are camera equipment boxes, boxes that have electronics in them, ammo boxes tool boxes, etc etc. I add a bag to the pelican box that I use to store boat electronics (gps, handheld radio, depth finder). Have never had a problem caused by humidity in the containers. A hint, the draw string may be a little weak or cumbersome for this purpose. I used very small zip ties. BTW, you can regenerate the desiccant packs forever. bake in oven at 225 degrees for 2 hours. If you rarely open the storage containers these packs can last a damn long time before regeneration is needed.. The silica gel can adsorb (yes 'adsorb') up to 1/3 of its weight of water. That is a hell of a lot of water vapor.Read full review

There is a horrendous and pungent smell coming from these bags, like they got wet and grew mildew. This is the second time in a row I have purchased these same bags (several months apart) and they have had this strong smell -- was hoping for maybe a different batch of bags this time around. Completely unusable, had to return, never again. :(
