It's defintely a good thing that I read all the reviews from various sites(Amazon, Collage Video, Netflix, here, etc.) before actually doing this workout(which is a great helpful tip to do, so that u can get an idea of what to expect from the DVD and the instructor, Cindy Whitmarsh. Now, I had done a couple of workouts from her before on Exercise TV ON DEMAND(10-minute Buns & Thighs), which was tolerable and effective(and she was NOWHERE near annoying on that short segment workout compared to on here); then a workout on one of Barry's Bootcamp targeting the lower body(and she was fine on that one too...she barely talked much, except to explain each move 'cuz Barry did most of the "motivating" chanting/cheering). I tried to do one of her "Incredible Abs" workouts on Exercise TV, but was turned off when I saw her weird, grosteque-looking abs that I couldn't complete it. But, back to the topic at hand, I REALLY tried to like & tune her annoying voice and commands like I'm a child or slow by turning the volume down just enough that I could hear her when she switched to different moves. However, I could still hear her talking in her fake, cheery voice when she'd say, "Come on! U can do it!"(I'm sorry, but u can tell that she was not being real) that I would roll my eyes after every 2 mins. when she'd do that(that's preferably the main reason that I can't do the Dallas Cowboys' Cheerleaders' workouts is because of their remote fakeness...but that's another story). After hearing that for the first 10 - 15 mins., I would be like, "Ugh! Shut up, already! I don't need u talking to me like I'm 5 or like I don't know what the hell I'm doing, okay?" Don't get me wrong, I knew this DVD was for beginners(I read the title of the workout); however, I have done "beginner-type" workouts in the past, and cannot recall them talking to me in that manner. I never heard any of the instructors of those workouts tell me, "Keep ur chin/head up and look at me when getting on the floor." I'm like, "What?" It was just ridiculous. I mean, all in all the workouts was okay. I did feel a burn in some places, such as the abs section and in the buns/thighs that it was effective in that aspect. So, if u can get past or overlook her fakeness and kindergarten-ish commands, then the DVD will be great for u(but not for me 'cuz mine is back in the mail). I'm sorry, but I had to return it(because I'm all about the total package, not just the workout itself). Anyway, hope this helps someone who is considering this DVD.Read full review
This video is exactly as good as I had hoped it would be. It has the convenient option to do only one 10-minute workout when that's all you have time for, but it also gives you the option of combining multiple workouts in whatever order you like, allowing you to create a personalized longer workout, depending on how much time you have. I love it and will be buying the intermediate/ advanced versions soon. Recommended to anyone who wants to get fit but doesn't always necessarily have time for a full 30-minute workout every day.
This is by far my favorite exercise DVD. I have used at least a couple dozen over the years and this is the best. I am able to do the moves in a small space and in a short amount of time. I really like all the 10 minute solution DVDs since you can choose to do one or all or a set of the 10 minute workouts. I really think that this DVD is helping me to get back in shape.
Great for toning when you don't have 30 mins or One hour to workout
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
If you are just starting out and are looking for a slow yet challenging routine, this DVD is for you. The instructor is great, easy to follow, and NOT annoying. She demonstrates each move, with clear direction, to prevent injury and to maximize your workout. I'm not a fan of "dancey" routines, so I was thrilled with it's straight-forward, effective, and uncomplicated flow from one move to the next. There are 5 10-minute segments, including a stretch. It goes by so quickly, I was surprised when it was over.
